1. Jane Eyre and I
Since I was a junior student, I read a lot of novels. Not only Chinese authors’ novels, but also the world famous literature novels translated in Chinese. I believed that Jane Eyre was a famous book in Taiwan with different version-for kids, teenagers, and the original version for adults.
Jane Eyre was strange to me because the translation of the title-簡愛. At the beginning, I could not understand why she had a Chinese family name-簡. Another question was whether the book was describing about “simple love”. Anyway, it was a small joke of my stupid.
In these years, I read the whole version in Chinese, and watched some different BBC TV series of Jane Eyre. Though watching movies is the quickest way to know the thick book, the long story, but it also might kill the audience’s imagination. To speak frankly, I really don’t like the hair style at the time. And the dress of the governess was so dim and dull. In my opinion, the hair and dress style in BBC version in 1983, starred Zelah Clarke and the 007 Timothy Dalton, was the ugliest. Well, this was another superficial thought of my opinion.
There are so many different versions of movies and TV series of Jane Eyre. Through the improvement of technology, the productions are more and more complicated, colorful, and plentiful in visual and audio.
